At the World of Opportunities Inclusive Center, we work daily on developing fine motor skills, as they are closely linked to speech, attention, thinking, and a child’s level of independence.
Here are some simple and effective tips that you can use at home.
1. Use mosaics and sorters regularly
Tasks involving matching shapes, colors, and sizes help train precise finger movements and develop perseverance and concentration. It is important to start with simple tasks and gradually increase the difficulty.
2. Involve your child in activities with small objects
Pouring grains, sorting buttons, and moving objects with a spoon or tweezers strengthens hand muscles, improves coordination, and tactile perception. Such exercises also have a calming effect.
3. Offer creative activities that involve the hands more often
Modeling, finger painting, and working with dough or clay contribute to the development of motor skills, imagination, and emotional well-being. Give your child the opportunity to experiment freely without evaluating the result.
At the World of Opportunities Inclusive Center, we select tips and activities individually for each child.
Regularity and adult support are the key to confident movements and new achievements.
