5 sensory games to play at home
21.03.2026
A child’s development with ASD is an ongoing process, and loved ones can make it an exciting journey. We don’t always need expensive equipment—after all, a world of sensory experiences can be found in a simple jar of rice or a glass of water.
At the “World of Opportunities” Inclusive Center, we teach that play is a bridge to calmness and new skills.
Try these at home:
- “Treasure in the Grains”: Hide small toys in a container filled with beans or kinetic sand. This stimulates the tactile receptors.
- “Colorful Rain”: Pour water from one container to another. The sound and sensation of water soothe the nervous system.
- “Drawing with semolina”: Spread a thin layer of semolina on a tray—draw sunflowers or letters with your fingers.
- “Foam party”: Whip up shaving foam or soap suds. This is the perfect tool for overcoming tactile defensiveness.
- “Cereal Therapy”: Let your child simply dip their hands into a deep container of cold, dry peas. This deep pressure helps them feel the boundaries of their body.
