Developing fine motor skills with plasticine

Plasticine is one of the best materials for developing fine motor skills, finger strength, coordination, and imagination.

Plasticine is often used in working with children because it:

  • Plasticine is often used in working with children because it:
  • stimulates tactile sensations;
  • develops speech through the activation of fine motor skills;
  • calms and helps to concentrate;
  • promotes creativity and self-expression;
  • trains the strength of the muscles of the palms and fingers.
To make the lessons useful and interesting, we offer 5 simple exercises with plasticine that can be done at home:
  • Rolling balls
    The child makes many small balls — this is an excellent way to train finger strength and coordination.
  • Rolling “sausages”
    With palms or fingers. Then you can make shapes or letters out of the “sausages.”
  • Decorating templates
    Draw a simple outline (tree, fish, flower) and ask your child to “fill” it with plasticine.
  • Pressing into molds
    The child fills small cells or various shapes with plasticine — this develops precision of movement.
  • Creating “plasticine beads”
    Roll small balls and string them on a string — this is a great exercise for developing motor skills and coordination of both hands.

Plasticine is not just a game, it is a powerful tool for development.
