Hyperactivity often accompanies autism spectrum disorders and can manifest itself as increased mobility, impulsiveness, difficulty concentrating, and the need for constant movement. This is not “bad behavior,” but rather a way for the child’s nervous system to cope with overload or lack of stimulation.
