Focus: 5 Exercises You Can Easily Do at Home
02.05.2026
For a child with special educational needs, the world around them is often too noisy and chaotic. Home exercises help create an “island of focus” where the child learns to block out distractions and concentrate on what matters
At the “World of Opportunities” Inclusive Center, we use game-based methods that parents can easily adapt for home use
Here are 5 effective exercises to improve concentration:
- “What’s Different?”: Place 4–5 toys. The child closes their eyes—you remove one or switch their positions.
- “Find the odd one out”: Place 3–4 objects in front of the child, one of which is different (in color, shape, or function). Ask them to find the “odd one out.”
- “Sorting”: Ask them to sort objects by color, size, or shape—this trains attention and thinking.
- “Treasure Hunters”: Ask them to find 3 objects in the room that are only red or only round.
- “Repeat After Me”: Tap out a rhythm on the table, and have the child repeat it.
These exercises train not only attention but also memory and observation skills.
Important: Don’t overload them; give them time and praise them even for small successes.
