Hyperactivity in ASD

Hyperactivity often accompanies autism spectrum disorders and can manifest itself as increased mobility, impulsiveness, difficulty concentrating, and the need for constant movement. This is not “bad behavior,” but rather a way for the child’s nervous system to cope with overload or lack of stimulation.

In children with ASD, hyperactivity can manifest itself in different ways:

  • frequent running, jumping, spinning objects;
  • difficulty sitting still even for a short time;
  • rapid shifting of attention or, conversely, chaotic actions;
  • increased sensitivity to sounds, light, and touch.

At the World of Opportunities Inclusive Center, we work with hyperactivity in a comprehensive and caring manner:

  • we select individual sensory and neurosensory exercises;
  • we help the child learn self-regulation through movement and play;
  • we form a structure for classes and a clear daily routine;
  • support the development of attention, emotional stability, and interaction skills.

Every child has their own pace and needs. Our task is not to “stop” hyperactivity, but to help the child learn to manage their condition, feel calmer and more confident in the world.
